The Joy of Motion

Jan 27, 2003 23:30

We had fun tonight!

I showed the girls a variety of dancing clips, from the belly-dancer in From Russia with Love to "Make 'em Laugh" from Singing in the Rain to Slutney Spears' "Hit me Baby one more time."

We traced the development of movement, and they were amazed that the Bimbo uses some of the same moves that Cosmo uses in the comedic dance routine (athletic motion) and that the dancer uses with her hips.

Ya know, Britney looks too much like an anime character with those big eyes and the poofies in her hair...

They loved the chance to try out belly dancing, and we covered some basic steps for the hora, waltz, tango, lindy and hustle. We twisted to Chubby Checker.

I have the Star Wars Theme Disco Mix. It is appallingly 1978, and works great to the hustle. At least once I stop giggling.

We had a great time, they earned their dance badge, and I offered to run a "Yarn and Fabric Arts" badge workshop in March.

I also finished the edits on "Living the Code." I got a non-TPM beta, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending. It means people can come into my story with no background, but it also means that I wound up explaining that both the Unifying and Living Force are canon.

(TPM canon. Luke experiences no such dichotomy.)

I tossed out a rec for the "Rub it 'til it Breaks" challenge. All Frot, all the time.

Work has been arduous and shows no signs of slowing. I'm moving the Misc. to the AV room. Then I get to move all the cd-roms whose books didn't have envelopes. Then i can get back on the Journal cataloguing project.

Ah, two disasters down, 5 to go:
Must send Obi-Chris to school with 100 items for trail mix (will stop and buy peanuts)
Viking project must finish tomorrow
Bunny must also finish her book project for Thursday
Pinewood derby Friday
House must be clean before Sat AM

I have a KITCHEN! Yowza!
