So, fist full of things to post from this weekend.
* Uncle Cecil's was fantastic. I really can't say enough about how much fun I had. The food was tasty, the beer flowed all night, and the company was worthwhile. I even got a really cool gift from the gift swap, a fleece hooded mantel in my colors (green and black.) from Dancing Koi. Growing up, I never managed to get cool things in gift swaps, so it really made my day to get a nice piece of garb :-) Also, fun for to the plot-goings-ons :-) ... although I heard some people were dismayed that some plot came in w/ me, I think more people had fun getting involved in it.
* Saturday night and Sunday: SNOW (in case anybody hadn't noticed ;-)
I wound up making it off site, but getting snowed in @ my parents for all of Sunday. Being there was strangely productive however. Through happenstance, my brother, father, and myself all wound up there. So we managed to move all the furniture into my parent's newly remodeled bedroom. We also climbed into the attic (which involves a step ladder, and pulling/jumping your way into the ceiling) and pulled down a bunch of xmas decorations. This was about the point we realized we tossed the fake tree last year because it was crappy. So, my folks had no tree up, no place (or desire) to attain a live one, and a lost crappy fake one. Clearly, the solution was to brave the inclimate weather in my brother's 4x4 jeep to go buy a new crappy fake tree. (I wish there was a smilie for rolling my eyes, but I don't think it could do it justice.)
* I finished a set of Lock, shock, and barrel masks for
northerndryad last week. I didn't want to post pics until after the weekend though, because they were for her Nightmare Before Christmas party. Honestly, I was initially doubtful as to how well I could create wearable copies of their masks, but am very pleased with the end product. I even got to do some tooling on the masks (which, it turns out, comes out very nicely with the paint.) I'm not in a rush to do another project like this, but it was pretty satisfying to apply some theories and techniques in a new way and produce something I wasn't entirely confident I could [and really like it to boot.]
Upcoming goings-ons:
* Turns out one of my buddies at work is directing a play, and he's looking for a set designer. He's going to be doing 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.' I've got to finish reading the script in the next couple nights, but am hoping I can come up with a sweet design.
* Am more and more seriously considering starting a small mask business, either via ebay or as a legit site.
* Time to start slapping together a more serious 9-month and 3-5 year game plan. Am considering work and school options as well as weather to pursue my career in education, or re-explore one in graphics/design.
