In which Jess rolls her eyes
Had a 'talk' with the DOS yesterday, apparently I'm still not working hard enough and 'need to take it up three or four gears'. Le sigh. I'm fully aware that I sucked last year, and that I have to do a fuckton of revision if I actually want to get good grades this year (which I really, really do), but I thought I was doing ok. Some of my essays have even been marked with "top first class, well done". I'm getting As and Bs in my assessed practicals.
On the same day I got an essay back from said DOS. I didn't read any notes for this, didn't read any books, did no research whatsoever, and basically made up the whole thing. All in all, it was a bucket of wank with a bullshit topping. He marked it with a few comments about some points to add in, a few double ticks (his code for 'nice paragraph/good point') and a 'Good' at the end.
I find these conflicting messages extremely confusing. You can tell because I have used the 'confused' smiley face for this post.
