This time I'm going to finish the update.
First I'll start with my trip to
Hawaii.
Our flight from LAX was at 5:30 and it's a 5 and a half hour flight going to Hawaii, so that placed us there at 11 pm Pacific Time, but Hawaii is three hours behind us, so it was only 8 pm their time. I got to relive hours! Whoo! So we got there Saturday night drove around Waikiki looking for hour hotel. They don't allow billboards or signs above like 15 feet. It was actually kinda nice not seeing all the advertisements from crap.
Sunday: The first day we were there we stayed at a Holiday Inn. It was alright. That day we drove the Dole Plantation. Now, to be completely honest with you all, I absolutely HATE pineapple. My parents know this, but you know what? The made me eat what the plantation calls a "Dole Whip." It's ice cream made from pineapples. Blegh. It made me nauseous. After that, Sunday was spent driving around the island and stopping for to take pictures. I'll get some up as soon as I can find the cord to download them all. >_> I have no idea where I put it.
Monday: We packed everything up and drove to the Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base and stayed in a little hotel thingy there called "The Lodge." The air condition there work REALLY well. At night it was like we were in a meat locker. After we put all our stuff in the room we drove to Pearl Harbor and went to the Arizona Memorial and the got a tour of the USS Missouri. I got go below deck! haha! The ladders in those ships are really steep! But it was so much fun. We also got to see the Bowfin submarine, which was kinda boring. The battleship was more exciting because I love active history. If I can see what someone is talking about it holds my interest. Those three tours took up all day. My feet were sore by the time we got back to the Marine Base.
Tuesday: We hiked up Diamond Head, and oh my God. >_< I hate switch backs. And then we were almost there and we came up to a stair case that had like 200 steps in it. @_@ It was so hot and I got dizzy, so I had to sit down for a few minutes before I finally finished. I think once we got back down from the hike I passed out in the car. The top of the volcano though has a pretty good view of Honolulu though, and the ocean. It's was awesome.
Wednesday: We visited Punchbowl, the National Cemetery in Hawaii. They have this really big statue at the top of the stairs and all this information of the wars that went on in the Pacific. It was pretty cool. After that we went on another hike to Manoa Falls. We got to walk through a rain forest and a bamboo forest, and I have spiffy pictures. I was kinda disappointed in the waterfall though... if you could even call it a waterfall, it was more like a little drizzle.
Thursday: Polynesian Cultural Center! We went to a Luau, but it kinda sucked. And after that we went to the evening show, which made up for the lame dinner. The show was awesome! Fire twirlers, dancers, music. It was cool. But we didn't have time to go around to the sections that they have dedicated to the different Pacific Islands.
Friday: My dad had to work this day so while he was working my mom and I did laundry because we decided to stay 2 extra days but had run out of clothes. But after my dad got back from work we went back to Waikiki and shopped and had dinner. I got to put my feet in the ocean, but we didn't have time for us to do much else because it takes like an hour and a half to get to Waikiki from Kaneohe, and then it took us another hour to find parking. It's incredibly difficult to find parking there.
Saturday: We went back to the Polynesian Center and it turned out to be a waste of time. It was boring, and hot, and gah. It drove me crazy.
Sunday: We went back to Waikiki and looked around a little more before we drove to the airport to catch our plane. My dad had to stay another week in Hawaii for work, so it was me, my mom, and my brother coming home, and the whole plane ride he wouldn't stop poking me! @_@ We landed in LAX around 10:30 pm and had to go get our rental car and then we drove home. I didn't get to go to sleep until 2 am, and then I had to get up early the next day.
But overall, Hawaii was really fun. If I get the chance to go back I think I'd go to a different island though. There's only so much you can do on one island.
This last weekend I went to Anaheim for
Anime Expo 2006.
I went with a group of people. I went as Sora, Hikki went as Roxas, Hikki's little sister Kelsey went as Namine, another friend went as Kairi, Rachel (is that spelled right Hikki?) went as a geisha, Karley (again, is that spelled right Hikki?) went as Sakura from Card Captor Sakura, Hikki's other sister went as her own made up character, and then we met Mika there, she dressed up as a Organization XII member, it was awesome! We left Friday afternoon and got to the Hilton in Anaheim and everyone was staring at us because we were carrying our keyblades. hahaha. XD It was fun. After dinner we decided to put our costumes on and run around! So many people wanted pictures! Whoo! When we got in line to get our passes this one girl started jumping up and down screaming our character names at us. It made me happy. ^_^ Saturday was the big day! We got up at 5:30 to take showers and get ready and then we got to wait in line for Opening Ceremonies for about an hour. More people asked for pictures and we got a few hugs from others. Opening Ceremonies was kinda boring. They were a little late starting. CLAMP was supposed to help with it but they didn't and then we found out that the CLAMP panel was only going to be for asking them questions, so we decided to skip it because we wanted to do some shopping in the Exhibition Hall. Well, shopping turned into an even bigger flop. They didn't have a very big assortment of things to buy. And I was shocked that they had barely any Kingdom Hearts stuff. And what made me even sadder was that the few things they had went so quickly. There was a poster I wanted but they were out of them. So I only bought a Paupu fruit plushie. It's adorable. ^_^ We decided to leave a little early than we had planned because we were all exhausted. On the way home we stopped by Barns & Noble and I bought two books. And that's about it. lol. It was a lot of fun though, and I really want to go again next year if that's possible.
Whoo, ok, I think I'm done now. XD My fingers are tired.
