BOOK: Looking over my recommendations, I see I've somehow or other never rec'd Mary Stewart's
The Moon-Spinners. How did that happen?! This was the first Stewart* book I read, and the perfect vacation read (appropriate, as it's Thanksgiving break for us American perpetual-student-types). Intrigue, kidnapping, robbery, and sexual tension on the sun-soaked island of Crete.
FILM: My roommate rented
Clue the other night. I giggled through the entire thing. This was one of my favorite movies growing up and it was a wicked joy to see Col. Mustard, Miss Scarlet and the gang again. Among my favorite things about Clue: 1-the house actually resembles the game board; 2-Michael McKean ("I had to stop her screaming!"); 3-Tim Curry ("I buttle, sir."); 4-MADELINE KAHN (
"Flames... on the side of my face..."); 5-the multiple endings. So many great lines & moments. Also funny to see Christopher Lloyd in the exact same year as Back to the Future, looking fifteen years younger without white hair! This is one of the ultimate comedy classics.
SONG: I've been into Stars for years, but thanks to
lupinskitten I am now particularly obsessed with
"Take Me To The Riot". (I was going to link to the official video, but it has a minute of talking first.)
*Fun Fact: Did you know that Mary Stewart's birth name was Mary Rainbow? TRUE.
