BOOK: Thanks to winkingstar for reccing Katherine Sturtevant's At the Sign of the Star when I asked for Fun Summer Suggestions. It's a pleasing middle-grade level book about a 12- or 13-year-old child of a bookseller in Restoration Era London. The light plot simply concerns the girl's fears about her widowed father remarrying, but the heroine, though girl-powery and rather a precocious admirer of Dryden and Behn, is not too ahistorical, and the evocation of the period is impressive.

SHOW: In place of a film, today I'm going to recommend Roswell Season One, which I purchase on the cheap recently and am reviving my love for by getting my roommate hooked on the Teen Alien Angst. A delightful source* of broodsome romance! Also fun to watch for are the cameos by producer Jonathan Frakes.

SONG: Making a Britpop mix for thismightbejess this week I fell madly in love with Kate Nash's We Get On. The lyrics are a dramatic monologue, relatable and ultimately sad but adorable. Listen!

*"Source" may be an appropriate word for this show... or so I was thinking at the point in the pilot when the Mysterious Brooding Hero supernaturally saves the Average Teen Heroine's life and they become bio lab partners and he runs out of the room...
