"Margaret felt grateful for the protection offered by Thornton's imposing height and manly bearing."

Today is the anniversary of the day soniag turned up to make the world a nicer place! Yay!

In her honor, I have a present for all North & South fans:

"Mistress of Marlborough Mills" by Louisa. It's a novella-length sequel to N&S. If you frequent C19 you may have read it already. Kiwi Liz rec'd this to me, and you wouldn't believe how it cheers my slow days at work! The author picks up where the miniseries ends (she's obviously read the book, but uses the movie canon) and, well, I'll let Liz sum up:

"Sure it has some flaws. But they are few. Sure the language isn't always perfect. But it mostly is. It's just delightful! It's thoughtful! It's poignant! It's an entirely feasible continuation of North and South and I love it."

For your delectation, I've uploaded a word document of the whole thing (so far). ENJOY!

(If you have a login you can also find it chapter-by-chapter at C19 :: The Writers' Forum :: The further adventures of N&S :: "Mistress of Marlborough" by louisa.)
