Great-Grandmother update

Apr 23, 2008 15:03

Well I just got off the phone with my Nana. She's just informed me that my Great-Grandmother just got sent back to the hospital. Her staf (spelling?) infection is still there even after they said they got it out. (that was surgery #2.) Now they told her she had 2 options.
1. Live with the infection till it spreads to her whole body and kills her and the bandage would have to be changed everyday.
OR
2. She would have to have surgery #3 to remove the hip replacement that she got when this all started. This of course means that she will be in bed till one of two things happen....eaither she will get better and they can do another hip replacement for her down the road or she will die without the hip of old age or something.

My Nana said she left it up to my Great-Grandmother. She wanted a few days to think on it but the doctor told her he needed to know by night fall. So in the end she picked to #2. Shes going to have it removed friday. Which means that I will be spending that day in the hospital with my Nana while this goes on and be spending that night with her to help with my druged up Great-Grandmother.

I am kind of tore right now between what to do. Should I break down and cry because my Great-Grandmother just got handed a death sentence or should I stay strong and hold it all in because there could still hope at the end of the tunnel? I mean the two of us has never been close. She has always put me down for my hair (its to short, why did you die it,its to long, wear it down more) and for my weight (should you really be eatting that?). The only nice thing she has done for me is I bought her a fake little ring back in like 1st grade. She took tape and sealed the little see-thru box shut and shes always had it in her purse. Even that wasn't "for" me.
But then again she is family. I should show my feelings for her being sick and for her problems, even if she doesn't care about mine!

Man life never ends with the drama! *yanks on hair*

In other news I finished my 3rd pair of socks! I haven't taken a picture of the completed pair yet but I do have a pick of the almost finished!

Now I guess I need to find something simple to knit while I'm at the hospital this weekend.

Have a wonderful day and don't forget old people might say mean thing's but I think thats there way of saying I love you.
