UW Logo candidate 08 - UW Mask
So thus far, the "U" in "University of Waterloo" has been forgotten. Someone might think the giant W belongs to Western or Williams or something.
Normally I think logos which are made up entirely of overlapping letters are lame. Really lame. But for some reason, I really like this one. The sweeping arc of the W reminds me of a bird, or something. I thought this idea would be a throwaway, but I think it has potential.
I extrapolated what the U would look like, knowing that the base W was close to Gotham Black. I tweaked the U slightly so that the top of the U interlocks perfectly with the gaps in the U. But it looks natural.
Again, alternate colours for your judgement. The logo in the upper right is meant to demonstrate the overlap rather than be a serious suggestion.
