NANOWRIMO ENDING

"Is equality achieved by fair distribution and unbiased treatment, or the opportunity for all to exercise their freedom?"
- an idea from comparing high school and college education in the Philippines
Hmm, you might not be able to see the connection between the quote and the subject. My Filipino teacher's lectures were always enlightening. From language, she was able to explain how it resulted to the identity of the Filipino lost in the English translation of the global modernization the country had to keep up with to elitism and social division as a political and national problem. Oh, it wasn't from there that I derived the quote. I thought of how amazing of a veteran teacher she was and compared it to my previous teachers in high school. We didn't have a choice which teacher to teach us in high school. I wondered if this was somehow unjust because I felt that if there were the opportunity, I would pick the better teacher - one who could teach me, not pass me. If students received the same level of academic teaching, then being unable to choose the teacher for her subject wouldn't be so bad. But was receiving the same what others did equality? Or was it equality if each of us had the power to choose?

I was hopeful until the end - don't get me wrong, I did not give up. I simply relinquished.

I had the concepts and ideas written down. They were all wonderful in my opinion. I did not have a doubt that I couldn't write them down. The problem was...the style. I said to myself it didn't matter, but I couldn't help but cringe at the lack of humor, the lack of Percy Jackson feel (as it was in 3rd person) which I really wanted. I was worried the Harry Potter-verse doesn't make such a limelight at the beginning, so I tried integrating a bit of it. It made me less productive and uninspired.

The reason I picked Their Own Agenda as my Nanowrimo was the story's simple writing style. At that attempt, I made it unreasonably complex. I wasn't even supposed to CARE for this. I just wanted to write and write but the ideas got so wonderful I did not want to waste them - a reason why I didn't do this fanfic I'm sure I could write down. I wanted to write it carefully, as perfect as I could, not rush it.

I had thought of abandoning Their Own Agenda all together, but I wanted to do the HPxPJ fandom a favor. I'll take on the Nanowrimo challenge with its deadline extended on my time and the condition that I must have finished it and available in Fanfiction.net.

Time to re-do you, Chapter 2! (Yes, that's how far I got!)

nanowrimo, fanfiction, harry potter, crossover, percy jackson, their own agenda
