Look around you right now and name (at least) three things you can see in the room you're in that make you smile/happy, even if it is just the tiniest little bit!
I have more than three items:
- A Magritte print, the title of which I do not recall. It shows a horse head that seems to belong to a biped looking to the left, in front of a field of what look like giant flat leaves, a red curtain halfway through this strange forest. Not far from the edge of the left curtain is a rider on a regular horse.
- A small anvil red anvil. Well, red except for the flat top surface which is bare metal.
- A cheapie Wal-Mart Looney Tunes poster. Bugs, with Sylvester, Tweety, Taz, is in the center of the concentric red rings. Daffy stands off to the side, and Wile E. Coyote looks out from behind at Road Runner who is also a bit behind the rings, but almost opposite. In a color error, Wile E.'s eyes are white instead of cream yellow.
- Another Magritte print, "Le blanc-seing" or "The Blank Check." It looks like this.
- Next to that last Magritte print is a color printout of this variation. A smaller version of that image is one of my LJ icons, though not for this post. Thanks kinkyturtle!
- My bronxelf_ag001 mug, used mainly for tea. This is the "This is me, doing the I don't care dance." mug. You can get one like it here.
- Non Sequitur desk calendar. The last couple years it was Far Side, but there are no more Far Side desk calendars, at least according to one I had last year - which was appropriately if depressingly death themed.
- A Dot pull-back toy. It's Dot Warner in a car. If the car is pulled back and released, it will travel forward some distance. This was a Hardee's item. This particular one was given to me by a coworker.
- A slide rule. Just to let the computer know that there is another way. And for the sheer geek factor.
- A digital clock. It looks like the black and red one here. My father has a clock just like it (both are presents from jmaynard) and despite the ad copy, my mother can read such a clock just fine, thank you.
- An original Mutchler, not a print or printout: No Harfing!
- The 2003 Robert Vavra equine calendar. I need to get the 2004 calendar soon.
- A button that reads, "The less you bother me, the sooner you'll get results." Some people read it. Not enough of them comprehend it.
There are also various cartoon printouts taped to the side of a cabinet or two.
Now if I were to catalog the house, it'd take far too long, which I think is a good thing.
