Me:
Even with all this, people still throng to Bangalore :)

LA:
That’s the pity… ITS all IT else… nothing…

Me:
I would beg to differ! Ask someone who is from Bangalore what he likes most about Bangalore, you ‘ll know what I mean :) IT has certainly put Bangalore on the global map of hot spots, but there are more to it that not many people are aware of and in all probabilities, never will be…

LA:
I do partially agree with u… but ask any1 who have come from the other cities…
hopes that u come with 2 b’lore r dampened…
more than living… 1 finds himself adapting…

Me:
That problem is all in perception my dear friend! Bangalore has only 1/3rd people who are originally from Bangalore, rest 2/3 are from outside. If your hopes are dampened, then most likely its because of people who are not from Bangalore and the place or the people have nothing to do with it. I have see the pre-IT,pre-malls,pre-pubs  Bangalore and I know what has become of it :)

LA:
Well, even I hav a friend whos from b’lore… I asked her as to how was b’lore earlier… during her school days…
She said b’tiful… and I asked her a question… The same that m going to ask u…
Do u like what has become of b’lore ?
Don’t b bias, gimme a true reply…

Me:
Yes, certain things I do like about Bangalore…. To be frank, I like most of it. There are a few thinks that are unpleasant, but they will get better as time goes by. Don’t you like the name it has brought for India? Don’t you like the city because people from anywhere can live with ease? Don’t you like all the globalization?

LA:
Well its not about globalization… and name for India…
its about living… living a satisfactory life…
u r spending a span of ur life in a city…
and if u r living is not satisfied … that span of life stands wasted…
things like globalization come secondary…
and 1 correction… Its not “people from anywhere can live with ease” …
people try to adapt…

Me:
Satisfaction again is very subjective…… for a kid, getting a candy worth 1 Rupee is satisfactory for someone else doing something for the society is! You cannot blame Bangalore or India for that matter, if you are not content with what you have.

and 1 correction… Its not “people from anywhere can live with ease” …
people try to adapt…

Try doing the same thing in Chennai or some other part of India. How many people/shop keepers in Bangalore insist that you speak in kannada? How many people reply in Kannada despite the fact that you don’t understand?

LA:
B’lore is any time better if u compare it with places like Chennai…
but remember 1 thing… never compare urself with the lower levels…
in that case u r always in heaven…

The rickshaw walas loot u…
The smallest of smallest things hav their prices hiked…
The foodstuff in the restaurants is pathetic…the service even more…
(just talking abt an average restaurant… where the bill for 2 wud come to 150…)
The footpath is only meant for two-wheelers…
There is no traffic sense…
Transportation is lagging behind times…
The roads are pathetic…

What gr8 things m I asking from blore…
The city cant even give me the basic…
and u say “You cannot blame Bangalore or India for that matter, if you are not content with what you have”…

Me:
I agree that all your complaints are valid.

Let me put things in a different perspective

The rickshaw walas loot u…
The smallest of smallest things hav their prices hiked…
The foodstuff in the restaurants is pathetic…the service even more…
(just talking abt an average restaurant… where the bill for 2 wud come to 150…)

If all that is so expensive, why don’t you bargain? You, (and I mean all of us who are earning well) earn enough to neglect these little things.

The auto driver says he’ll charge twice and you say ok because you can afford it. This is the same case everywhere when the price is hiked. We don’t care because we can afford it. Have you thought what effect this is having on the society in general? We are responsible for this! If we bargain and stop using the rickshaw if he charges more, the driver will think twice before charging high for anyone. The same applies to everything else. The food at restaurant becomes expensive because vegetable and other stuff become expensive in the same way.

The footpath is only meant for two-wheelers…
There is no traffic sense…
Transportation is lagging behind times…
The roads are pathetic…

I agree there is lack of able administration and lack of proper infrastructure, but is it there in Bangalore alone? This is the second time that Mumbai is getting flooded! Women get molested in open parking lots in Delhi…… if you look carefully, the problem is everywhere! If you have to complain, complain about India, not Bangalore…… because Bangalore is a small part of the bigger picture.

What gr8 things m I asking from blore…
The city cant even give me the basic…

Tell me a city in India where you get your basic things and whatever else that Bangalore has to offer! I’ll be glad to move in there myself!
The perfect city, my friend is an Utopia!

PS: I don’t have any personal vendetta against you or anybody else for that matter. Please forgive me if I come across as a very arrogant person or if it sounds like I’m accusing anybody
