029. Sea, Sungmin/Shiwon

“Do you want to have a break up, then?”

The words stung right through Siwon’s ears as if he just heard it being shouted to him even though the words escaped the elder’s mouth was barely a whisper. Siwon peeled his gaze away from the piercing brown eyes in front of him and instead he turned his gawk on the endless horizon between the sky and the sea.

It was just about five minutes until five in the evening and the sun was starting to set. The once yellow-orange sun was nearing to the horizon and the sky was now painted with purple and red and blue. It was a mixture of different things Siwon couldn’t pinpoint and somehow, somewhere deeper in those clouds - Siwon knew his heart was buried in the twilight.

“You barely call me, you barely answer your emails and worst, you… you- I can’t fight for this relationship anymore if you yourself is already giving up, Siwon!”

Siwon knew he was indeed to blame on why his one hundred twenty three day long relationship with Sungmin was starting to crumble, starting to fall and was starting to fade off. Just like the sun - their relationship seemed to be setting on an end as well. But of course, Siwon didn’t want that.

“Siwon, please, talk… I -we can’t go on living like this. You in China, me, I’m flying to Japan five days from now. Do you really want this to end?”

Siwon had locked his eyes with his lover now and he saw how those crystal like raindrops were staining the porcelain skin the older harbored and it pained Siwon seeing how vulnerable, breakable and fragile the older was now and no, it wasn’t Siwon’s first time seeing him like this but this is the first time seeing his lover cry like this - over him, over them.

Siwon took a few steps forward before he had gather the fragile body into his strong muscled arms and he hugged the latter so tight it was if he was the one who’s breaking. He buried his nose onto his lover’s hair and inhaled deeply there, not wanting to break the proximity of their bodies or the feeling of home within that simple yet expressive hug.

“I love you so much, Sungmin hyung.”

“I love you too that it hurts so much now but I want to keep hurting.”

“Don’t. Please, don’t.” Siwon unlatched himself from Sungmin and he took a step backward. He watched those hazy brown eyes that were still liquidized with those salty tears that were starting to prang again. Siwon kissed him in the cheek, the cheek that seemed to be losing weight over the weeks and Siwon, being Siwon, just gave a guilty smile. “I’m not worth it, hyung.”

“Is this your way of saying goodbye?”

“You once told me that, goodbyes, they are actually more beautiful other than anything.”

“I guess this is it.”

Siwon just nodded because he knew that this is it. He didn’t want to say goodbye, no, but with the difficulties of being away from his hyung, being busy and frustrated all the time - he just couldn’t handle an extra weight on his shoulder and a ton over his heart. Siwon smiled sadly as he let his hand ran over Sungmin's shoulder for he knew, this could be the last time.

“We will be together again. Someday, maybe a different era or a millennium from now, it doesn’t matter for I know, we are meant to be even after death.”

Siwon smiled at the encouraging yet ironic statement of his lover - or was it ex now? It didn’t matter as well because for Siwon, Sungmin was his horizon. The endless line that he didn’t have any idea where it started and where it will end but even if he knew little of the horizon, he knew he will always and forever draw himself near it, being the sun of a brightly lit day and is longing for desertion.

Yes, it was a perfect irony. The sun needed the horizon to run to just like how Siwon needed Sungmin. And the sea was the witness through all of this, over and over and over again.
