This is a very cool story (and very well-written). I like your version of Castiel, and how we are privy to all his thoughts. I like how he sees his "Child"--with affection, frustration, protectiveness, and bit of awe.

Your portrait of Sam, as a young man whose soul is slowly being overtaken by darkness, yet who still manages to battle back from the edge (at least, for now), is intriguing.

So, good stuff, all around. And I'm eager to read more in this series. =)

I do have one concrit to offer. I think this repetition must have gotten missed on the final read-through. You say "he [Dean] upended seemingly half a bottle of ketchup over his plate" in one paragraph. And then a couple paragraphs later, you say, "he poured seemingly half a bottle of ketchup on his plate".

I also caught a couple of typos. It should be "toe", here, rather than "tow":
This is the same guy who threatened to send you back to Hell if you didn't tow the party line, remember?

And here (They'd been keeping their voices low and hadn't attracted any attention thus far, but all it would take it one of Dean's bouts of snappish temper) I'm guessing you meant "all it would take was".

Thank you so much for the edits. I've gone through and made the appropriate changes. @.@ I can only stare at a text for so long before it all starts to bleed together.

From a canon standpoint, I haven't been real thrilled by the distance between the boys this season, but it gives the ficcers a lot to play with at least. I was rewatching some eps from the second season a while back and Sam's development throughout the series has been kind of amazing; I really want to work with that and see how far I can push him--and nothing seems to push Sam's buttons like the threat of losing Dean. The next fic in the series will focus more on Sam and how he deals with everything. Hopefully, it won't take me a month to write this time.

Dean and Castiel will be in the fifth fic, but I promise that it will be worth the wait.

Thank you so much for reviewing and for your input with the concrit. I'm glad you liked the fic. ^_^v

I thought it was interesting that Kripke said both actors had approached him, separatedly, saying they were having some difficulty playing their roles with that distance between the brothers.
