I think I have, like, two people on my F-List who are as gaga about Supernatural as I am, but I thought this was cute. And I'm currently listening to my Sam playlist. ^^;;;;

I seem to miss most fandom politics, so I'm curious about these issues. :-) I also am very shiny and new to the fandom.
I hopped on the SPN bandwagon in May or so and it has since devoured my brain in a seriously sad way. ^^;;;;; I started out adoring Dean to a frightening extent, but it's hard to not get sucked into Sam's puppy dog eyes after a few eps. Even if his S3 hair is silly.
It's actually funny, because I'd been catching parts of Supernatural eps for years and seeing the slivers and thinking "Man, this show is awesome. I wonder what it is." I didn't realize until I bought the first two seasons on DVD after finally seeing a complete ep that all those awesome shows I'd seen were really one show. XD;; It felt like kismet and "Devil's Trap" and "In My Time of Dying" just carved a permanent place in my brain for the series.
.... -.- And then the plotbunnies came... Something will be published eventually. Because otherwise they will eat me alive.
But you should finish those fics. And publish them. So then I can read them. *---* Hendrickson/Dean is such a great pairing; I have no idea why more people don't write it. I'm also a huge sucker for Gordon/Dean. Kripke keeps killing all the awesome supporting characters...

Hee! That's so cute that you were seeing bits of the show and not realising it was the same one :D
I'm not in the fandom but there were things that bothered me throughout the time I've been watching. There's a fair amount of gender stereotyping (pure women dying while looking all virginal in their white nightgowns, for example) and Dean's misogynist language increased sharply in Season 3. There's a list somewhere but the usage of words like "bitch", "skank" and "slut" were really worrying. I'm pretty sure it made it to FW (in fact, there's a new SPN post of FW today that came about as a result of this meme!). Dean's mocking of Sam's masculinity really bothers me. Sure, it's just Dean being an idiot but why does he have to use references to his sexuality to be an idiot? And don't get me started on Bella (Bela? I've seen her name spelled both ways and can never remember which one is right). They introduced a new character and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing with her until the very end, when she actually became interesting. She had so much potential and I LOVED how she outsmarted the Winchesters. That was hilarious and it made for some great tension. And I'm still really angry about Ellen, although that was the network's fault more than the show's. They wanted to attract a younger audience so they fired Samantha Ferris because she was too old for the show. Apparently Bobby isn't too old, though. Don't ask me why. I loved Ellen, she rocked.
I still enjoy the show because there are many good things about it and it's a lot of fun and plus there are some really hot people in it.
Oh man, tell me about the plotbunnies. I'm still working on my HP fics and some original stuff but the plotbunnies keep appearing! Why won't they leave me alone, don't they know I'm busy?
Hendricks was AWESOME and he and Dean really had chemistry. And Ruby and Bella made me lol, so they had to get a fic. By the way, would you be interested in beta reading them when they're done?

I've seen your critiques before and they somehow prompted me to write what's tantamount to a short essay in response. ^^;;;; So I'm going to post that as an entry later today and will send you a link in the comments. Do you mind if I C&P your comment in the entry?
And thank you. I've been wanting to have a substantial discourse with someone regarding Supernatural for months now.
As for the fics, yes. *_____* I would love to read them before everyone else beta. ^^;;; I'd prefer to not do yuri lemons, though. Or at least to be warned for it. Most femslash doesn't really float my boat.

Just a quick comment to say that it's definitely lucid and interesting and you will get a decent response from me in the next couple of days. I wasn't behind the computer much today and won't be home tomorrow. But I definitely want to continue the discussion, it's a lot of fun!
(And I've just realised that I was called Henrikson "Hendricks". Don't ask me why.)
