I was surprisingly unspoiled for this one and had no expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by pretty much everything. Especially the lack of heroic death.

I loved the episode as well and I can feel the slash already writing itself out there and the communities for Jackson/Doctor creating themselves. But some of that now would be quite nice.

I'm currently learning for uni, and after every page I finish I plan to write a short fic. Migth get out of hand since my fics often end up longer than intended, but if things go well, there might be Jackson/Doctor slashfic in tonight.

OHH so that's where he got the sword! I was sitting there and thinking, 'Where did that come from?' but the obvious didn't occur to me! *headdesk*
Also. I may have missed something but does Jackson still have the Doctor's memories as well as his own (that are slowly coming back)? Or is it that as his own comes back the Doctor's memories slowly get pushed out?
And yeah, I REALLY like the Christmas dinner touch. Happy!Doctor is also wonderful (in a different way to angsty!Doctor). :) (Oh, and since I just remembered - the Doctor-and-Jackson-dangling-from-a-rope sequence right at the start - another favourite. Made me laugh. :D)
FINALLY saw the episode yesterday! Being a little Canuck, I had to download it (700mb on dial-up is not something I want to do ever again).
The Doctor trying to be his own companion and failing completely because he just can't stand in the background and shut up I totally agree with you there. XD Actually most of your favourite bits are match mine.
I'll make this short by saying that this episode was made of win!
