Prompt: #067 - Snow
Claim: The Time War
Table:
HereSpoilers: None
Characters/Pairing: Fitz/Doctor (10)
Summary: A skinny stranger provides much needed distraction for Fitz as he spends a lousy night in a club.
(
There was no way around it - his drink was gone. Fitz waved his arms until someone came to bring a new one. It wasn’t the second. )
Fitz sighed and gazed into his glass, looking for the alcohol that had mysteriously vanished. True, he’d chosen this life. But when the Doctor had asked him which time to drop him in he hadn’t imagined he’d have to stay here forever.
Years had passed before he’d slowly come to accept the fact that his friend wasn’t coming back to pick him up. He was most likely dead but Fitz preferred not to think about that. In his favoured world the bastard had simply decided he didn’t want him anymore and shuffled off to find someone else to travel with him. This way Fitz could curse him for is neglect and his heart didn’t break quite as much every time he thought of him.
Ugh... You know I love my emotional angst. That was beautifully heartbreaking.
The Doctor fishing for information was priceless. Poor soul... He just wanted to know Fitz had a nice life. How does one really get on with life after the Doctor? You write in a way that makes it difficult to blame anyone especially since it sounds like Fitz asked to leave. I love it that I can't side with one character!
This conversation didn’t really help getting over his misery, he realised. And now that guy was looking at him with real sadness and something like pain in his eyes but he didn’t say anything.
That was SO Ten! I could see the expression on his face during those lines.
And is that happy ending I see??? You wrote a happy ending! YAY!
“You didn’t really believe I’d let you get away so easily, did you?” he grinned with a lightness he didn’t feel when the Doctor stopped right in front of the door to speechlessly stare at him, his coat draped over his arm.
“Well,” Fitz continued when his old friend didn’t say anything. “I’m here. You’re here. The TARDIS is ready. Where shall we go first?”
YAY! I'm going to have to watch some Fitz so I can keep up with your marvelous fics! Reading your stories is like getting a classic Who education!

Just after I posted this I found a Fitz/Eight entry at who_otp that also included some quotes from the books. Read them, and then read the books! (I know what I'll hunt for now!)

The way I see it the Doctor went off to fight in the war and got rid of Fitz before he did so, so Fitz didn't actually want to leave but had no choice.
I originally planned to write some harmless Fitz/Ten sex because Fitz had never gotten any sex in my stories, but I had that idea in the back of my head that Fitz would know it was the Doctor, and there was no way he'd let him just vanish again. So this ending popped up, - but if Fitz wanted to travel with him again there couldn't possibly be any sex before. The Doctor probably would not have taken him. So I settled for harmless kissing, which was much easier to write anyway.

I read all the Eight/Fitz lines from those books. I'm going to have to go on a book hunt! That's pretty close to shippy! I didn't realize Fitz was with him for so long.
Ah, I knew the Time War was coming up for Eight. It makes sense that he'd leave Fitz when he went to fight.
You know I love harmless kissing. ;)
This was great writing!

(Or course I ended up ordering much more than planned. I felt like a little girl in a candy shop...)

Eh, you deserve it! You don't sound like you waste a lot of money. You should splurge on yourself once in awhile.
