Bit too long. Inspired not exactly by the pic but by the almost-impossible-to-read text on it, which was taken from a poem.
This is also a christmas drabble. Kind of.
Title: No Promises

Summery: In which Jack is a big boy and the Doctor is mean.
Word Count: 297
„Didn’t think you’d come.“
„Consider it a Christmas present.“
The Doctor’s voice is cheerful and carefree, but Jack knows him by now. The Doctor came alone; he’s lonely and he needs someone. Anyone. He wouldn’t have come if he wasn’t desperate, and now he wants Jack to stay.
And Jack has wanted to, for so long. He’s still dreaming of the Doctor and not only when he sleeps. Staying with him would be a dream come true, but he’s turned his back on the Time Lord once before and knows he has a choice. He can either stay with his team and make the best of the life he’s forced to live, or spend the next few years in a permanent state of bliss and excitement, while running after a man he can never have.
He was so young when he first met the Doctor, a selfish little boy who could still dream of impossible things. Now he’s grown up enough to see the world the way it is and make his decisions based on facts, not on wishes.
“I can’t offer you anything in return,” he says. On the Doctor’s face he can see the hurt, for a second, and a raw vulnerability that in another life would have made him change his mind. Then the smile is back and the Time Lord shrugs.
“Doesn’t matter. I’m just passing by, anyway.”
Jack won’t stay, so the Doctor can’t. He slips into his coat, walks over to Jack and cups his face, and then the human feels cool alien lips on his own, and a tongue slips into his mouth and for a few precious seconds he cannot think.
Then the Doctor breaks the kiss. He leaves without looking back and Jack has no right to follow.
