I need an Eleventh Doctor icon. But I'm out of icon space...
Now, spoilers, obviously. Also, spoilers for the latest episodes of Supernatural and Sanctuary.
In one word, I loved the Christmas special. It was exactly what I needed this Christmas. Not that Christmas was miserable for me, but with being so far from home and family, it kinda snuck up on us and passed without us really noticing. Also, it's ridiculusly warm for December. It always is when I'm in Japan for Christmas. Been told this isn't actually normal.
Anyway. Cheesy Christmas episode with knitwear and dirty looking peasants and flying fish. Loved it. Don't really have a lot to say about it except that. It was a bit predictable, but who cares? I kinda predicted that the Doctor would take Abigail to some future where they can heal her illness and then she'd do back in time and and marry her boyfriend when he was younger and they'd grow old together, so there, not that predictable. But then I shouldn't have predicted that, because DW has a tendency to not make a whole lot of sense in that department.
Also, as my friend noted, the Eleventh Doctor is really good at doing all the stuff that his former selves absolutely, totally, definitely couldn't do on threat on universal doom, meaning he changes the timelines of people quite happily. Maybe a little leftover from Ten's "Look at me, I'm a freaking GOD!" moment in The Waters of Mars? Would be interesting if that came to bite him in the arse one day, but I kinda doubt it.
Not much Amy and Rory. I would have liked to see more of them, but it worked fine like this. Them in their costumes coming from the honeymoon suite? Makes me suspect kink!
The trailer for the next series looks fun! Yay for River. And for Rory. Did I mention I love Rory as a companion? I totally do!
TV shows aren't nice to to Friend and me lately. Supernatural kept our favourite character from us for half a season and then gave him back only to go on hiatus, and we thought, "Well, at least we still have Sanctuary!" (Shut up, Sanctuary totally rocks!) And we laughed about the silly "Look, we just killed the entire team!" cliffhanger at the end of the last episode and even joked about how other shows would put something like at the end of a season, and at least here we'd only have to wait for one week to see how they all are miraculously not dead - and then we find out that not only did that show go on mid-season hiatus with that as well - it's on hiatus until fucking April!
So not cool.
So, Doctor Who giving us something for Christmas was quite appreciated.
In other news, I have a new hat. Tonight I dreamt I ate it.
