Vierge

L'homme est mon objet. L'homme, c'est la totalité. Une totalité d'un être complet. Je l'aime bien. Mon bien-aimé était, est, sera un homme. Toujours un homme. Homme, fort, masculin. Oui...tu as raison!

I Seek Him

O Wayfarer-
Have you seen my love?
On his head rests a crown of gems
That shames even the midday sun
His eyebrows are like drawn bows
Having lotus shaped eyes to match
His nose is straight and his cheeks
Like his chin are as fair as snow
But the red lips that I kiss smile
A half smile that grants me peace
If you have say that I seek him.

O Rose Bush-
Did my love pick me a red rose?
His ears have earrings that dance
With the music of life and his hair
As black as my sins that touches
His shoulders that is draped with
A cloth the colour of rich emerald
That protects his powerful hands
From the frosty winds of the night
If he has touched you be thankful
For I seek him for his embrace.

O Peacock-
Has my love praised your beauty?
His chest is firm and broad with 3
Necklaces of great value but only
In the third is Destiny known for
His belt of rubies and sapphire is
Above his strong but slender legs
Covered by a cloth yellow like rays
From the sun and your pride is lost
As your eyes saw my love for he is
The lord of beauty whom I seek.

O Whale-
Has my love come to the ocean?
He holds a conch from the beach
A discus fashioned of pure gold
A mace stronger than an elephant
And a noble lotus from the lowly mud
And they serve him with joy as he
Waits for me by the coast to swim
To him but alas swim I cannot for
Great creatures inhabit the waters
But if you have seen him searching
Say I would seek him another way.

O Human-
Have you realised my love in you?
His lotus feet you should cherish
For it grants ecstasy when you love
The one whose skin is blue like the
Clouds that bear rain and chant his
Multitude of names as only devotion
United with knowledge grants moksha
And the holder of that cup I search
For in day or night in grief or delight
O Vishnu -It is you that I seek always.

INTRODUCTION

1. The five topics of Bhagavad Gita are Ishvara (God), jivas (souls, the living entities), prakriti (material nature), kala (time) and karma (activities). All four save karma are eternal.

2. God exists at three levels as Brahman (Impersonal), Paramatma (Supersoul) and Bhagavan (Personal). Brahman only has His sat (existence) aspect, Paramatma His sat and cit (consciousness) aspects and only Bhagavan as He is is sat, cit and ananda (bliss). He is the origin of Paramatma and Bhagavan. Bhagavan also has a vigraha (form), as confirmed in Brahma Samhita 5.1- sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah; He has an eternal blissful spiritual body.

3. The four imperfections of jivas are:

i. They are invariably illusioned
ii. They are sure to commit mistakes
iii. They are limited by imperfect senses
iv. They have the tendency to cheat others

4. All living beings in the material universe come into being, stays for some time, produces some by-product, dwindles and vanishes.

CHAPTER 1

P 36.1- Six kinds of aggressors

Three aspects of God compared with sunshine, sun surface and sun planet. 1.2.11-

vadanti tat tattva-vidas
tattvaḿ yaj jñānam advayam
brahmeti paramātmeti
bhagavān iti śabdyate

Learned transcendentalists who know the Absolute Truth call this nondual substance Brahman, Paramātmā or Bhagavān.

Parasara (Father of Vyasa)- Bhagavan has all riches, strength, fame, beauty, knowledge and renunciation.

BS 5.1

isvarah paramah krsnah
sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah
anadir adir govindah
sarva-karana-karanam

Krsna who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the prime cause of all causes.

SB 1.3.28

ete cāḿśa-kalāḥ puḿsaḥ
kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam
indrāri-vyākulaḿ lokaḿ
mṛḍayanti yuge yuge

All of the above-mentioned incarnations are either plenary portions or portions of the plenary portions of the Lord, but Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa is the original Personality of Godhead. All of them appear on planets whenever there is a disturbance created by the atheists. The Lord incarnates to protect the theists.

CHAPTER 2

P 2.5- Abandon teacher if he/she engages in abominable acts or loses sense of discrimination.

P 6.2- Control of senses leads to elevation to knowledge, which leads to knowledge and devotion resulting in liberation.

P 19.2- Non-violence

P 22.2- Soul and Supersoul as birds on a tree

P 25.2- Soul is sarva-gata (present everywhere) in all and any environments and realms.

P 61-62.2- One cannot artificially suppress the senses but use them in to serve Krishna, in this way they will be controlled.

P 71.2- Real desirelessness is Krishna consciousness as everything is done and used for Krishna’s satisfaction.

CHAPTER 3

P 5.3- It is the nature of the soul to be active. If it is not engaged in Krishna conscious activities, it will be engaged in maya’s activities.

P 34.3- Although sense enjoyment is regulated through shastra, it can still get out of control.

P 38.3- Degrees of lust in living beings is like embryo in womb (plants), dust to mirror (birds, beasts) and smoke to fire (humans).

CHAPTER 4

P 1.4- Gita’s teachings first brought to Earth via Krishna, Vivasvan, Manu and Iksvaku. It’s teachings are superhuman (apaureshya) as it is spoken by God and is as good as the Vedas.

P 5.4- God does not forget all acts as He cannot change His body like the jiva. He is thus advaita, as there is no difference between His body and soul.

P 12.4- Worship of the demigods assures quick results. Demigods and their worshippers are reabsorbed during the universal annihilation.

P 30.4- The three types of sacrifices are the sacrifice of possession, study of philosophical systems and performing yoga to control senses.

P 42.4- Sacrifice has two aims. Firstly, to gain knowledge of oneself, to understand God and one’s constitutional position. Secondly, to gain material possessions and if the senses are not controlled for spiritual realization, it becomes material sacrifice only.

CHAPTER 5

P 2.5- Knowing that we are not the material body but spirit soul is not enough. We must as spirit soul. We must renounce everything as everything belongs to God. We never really own or renounce anything, actually.

P 4.5- The analytical study of the material world (sankhya) found Vishnu as its root.

P 8-9.5- Work depends on the soul. The immediate and remote causes are the doer, work, situation, endeavor and fortune.

P 15.5- God is not responsible for the actions and relations of the soul. He is the dispenser of the soul’s desires.

P 25.5- A soul fully conscious of his relationship with God is liberated, although in the material world.

P 27-28.5- Asthanga-yoga goes through eight stages- yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.

CHAPTER 6

P 1.6- A person who acts for the satisfaction of God is the perfect sannyasi.

P 5.6- Yoga is to enable one to meet the paramatma, to follow his dicta. With Krishna Consciousness, this surrender is automatic.

P 24.6- God helps those who help themselves.

P 28.6- Self-realisation means knowledge of one’s constitutional position in relationship to God.

CHAPTER 7

P 14.7- The material energy is also divine as it comes from God.

P 15.7- The four types of people who do not surrender- the grossly foolish, miscreants, deluded speculators and those of demonic principles (atheists).

P 16.7- The four types of people who surrender- the distressed, the desirer of wealth, the inquisitive, and he who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute.

CHAPTER 8

P 3.8- Brahman is jiva, parabrahman is God.

P 24.8- One who dies during the influence of the fiery god, in the light, at an auspicious moment of the day, during the fortnight of the waxing moon, or during the six months when the sun travels in the north enters the brahmajyoti. Yogis can do this as they can decide their time of death.

CHAPTER 9

P 9.9- God is not engaged in material activities, only spiritual ones.

P 11.9- One needs to respect the body and people, as it is the temple of the paramatma.
