Listening to This American Life (an NPR program hosted by Ira Glass) tonight, i had to try very hard to keep from crying. This one woman was telling about her experience with 7 other people during Hurricane Katrina. Trying to get out, they along with everyone else were stopped at a barricade of Mississippi police who were not allowing anyone to enter their state. Fellow Americans held them back with aimed guns. That night that 8 people broke into an abandoned bus and laid on the seats, not lifting their heads in fear of the gun shots that echoed around them. Earlier they had camped out together before fleeing when a police helicopter came down to blow away their camp. This makes me so angry i can hardly type.
