Yesterday was quite an eventful day...
On Friday the renovation crew got the new sliding door on the porch finished, plus the windows in the guest bedroom. So, on Saturday J and I thought we'd get the touch-up painting done. I happen to have some leftover paint for the living room, so we got that part done quick before lunch. After lunch we headed out to pick up a bit of paint for the bedroom.
On the way to get the paint, we decided to swing by
Dock 86. We've been discussing the need for a new couch for a while, and now that J is actually working on moving himself in to my place, it seemed a good time to go take a look around the store.
We found a couch that we both immediately loved, so I applied for store credit (and got it), J paid the required sales tax amount and voila! We shall have a new couch delivered sometime by the end of the week! :-) Yay!
Once that was done, we were off to get the paint and get back to work at the condo. J headed into the bedroom to prep the window for painting, and I grabbed the paint can and headed in after him... At this point, I'm not sure exactly what happened, but suddenly the paint can popped out of my hand, tumbling down to bounce off the floor... the lid springing off and half the contents sloshing all over the door, wall and carpet of the master bedroom... *facepalm* J and I stood there for a moment, just staring at the mess, and then I (being outside the bedroom) ran to the kitchen and tossed paper towels at him, while asking "should I come help or google how to deal with this quick?!" He said "google!" and off I went to the computer.
Surprisingly, it's not all that hard to get paint out of carpet. It's just very time consuming. I think we spent 2+ hours working on it, and got 95% of the paint out of the carpet. Happily, neither of us got pissed off or bitchy - we just dealt with the situation. Afterward, J teased me by saying that he had a deal for me: he is in charge of painting the walls, and I was in charge of painting the carpet. :-p I said, no no - I think I should just stay in the kitchen! I do well there! lol.
All in all, it was a good day. Long, and definitely more work than intended, but a good day. It's nice to have the walls touched up so we don't have to stare at the patch jobs. It will be even nicer once they have the master bedroom window done and my porch re-assembled! Sadly, it sounds like the porch may not get done until sometime mid-April (when the second construction crew comes around to put up the new siding).
