How do people I once talked to several times a week inexplicably become people I only talk to a couple times a year? The same question applies to the reverse. What compels me to reconnect to people I was once distant from? It all seems so random and arbitrary, at times. I wish there was a scientific explanation to help me understand why, as time goes by, some people drift apart but others remain close. Like, maybe, as people individually grow older and the chemical makeup of their brains evolve, a shift occurs in the electric charge of their neurons causing a subconscious magnetic push or pull between persons. It's always easier to blame science. Easier to assuage the sadness when there's a text book cause beyond our control behind the dissolution of a friendship.
