Pooter needs a new (temporary) home. He's currently living with my mom and her fiancé because of my living situation. Apparently Mike is allergic to cats, and he's been getting sick a lot since they moved in together. I need someone to keep him until Cyrus and I can get a place together in a year or so. (At least that's what I'm hoping, we haven't made solid plans yet.)

Ideally, you: don't live too far away so I can come visit; don't live on a superbusy street because he may want to go outside; don't have any other cats or dogs. He will come with everything he needs (toys, food, dishes, scratching posts, beds/shelter, covered litterbox, brushes, catnip...), and I will send you money/supplies as needed.

About Pooter: He is a sweet, intelligent, 5 yr-old bachelor. He is neutered (doesn't spray), microchipped, and current on all his shots. I found him as a stray at about six months old, and believe he may have been surviving on his own for a while, so he is tough and knows how to take care of himself. He can be a little shy/skittish at first, but generally warms up to people pretty quickly. His favorite things are boxes, high places, hunting, bird-watching, Greenies treats, napping, catnip, eating (see: belly), suitcases, pawing at stick-like objects, lying in sinks, kneading bellies, sitting in your book when you're trying to read, and sleeping at the foot of the bed. If you've got a mouse problem, he'll take care of that for you. He also likes to chase insects. (Just yesterday my mom said he spent most of the day sitting in the sink, watching the ants... and then eating them.) He usually does not climb on the counters or kitchen table, but can be trained with a squirt to the butt from a spray bottle (Mom's doing. Threatening him with "Santa isn't going to come see you!" doesn't seem to work.).

On other animals: He generally doesn't get along well with other cats. Bringing a kitten into the environment should be fine, as I have done this before. The kitten will learn to be submissive to Pooter, and they will probably become friends. Adult cats are more of a challenge, but it has worked before. (I just don't want to cause any undue stress to your cat or Poot!) He is afraid of/doesn't like dogs, but may be able to "train" a puppy.

Proof that he does, in fact, get along with others.

This cat means so much to me. We've been across state lines and continents together. He was there for me when no one else was. I'm tearing up just thinking about it! Someone please please please take him in! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I promise he's an entertaining little character and you'll enjoy having him as a roommate.
