[02] [video] just another nightfall
[It's after dark, and Juudai approaches the Cherrygrove beach, an empty stretch of sand and sea illuminated by moon and stars overhead and the city lights behind him. He flings himself and his bag haphazardly onto the sand and just... breathes for a while.]
Haaaa... to hell with the center there, I'm sleeping right here, thanks. I like it better with the sky over my head anyway.
[Removing two (!) Pokeballs from his bag, he sets them down and taps them, releasing the Growlithe and... a Pidgey! Growlithe pads around Juudai's outstretched form for a moment, leaving pawprints in the sand before situating himself next to his head, and Pidgey settles down near his legs, preening herself.]
I caught this other bird when I was working with my little Growlithe here. Wanted to see how the Poke Balls worked and stuff, I mean, so I decided to try and use one. I was gonna name it Wingman, but then I found out it was a girl, so I named her "Elemental Hero Lady Feather" instead -- Feather for short.
...And I named Growlithe "Elemental Hero Flare Growlithe", Flare for short. Better that they've got unique names now, right? So they don't get mixed up.
[He skips a beat or two, his breathing slowing down a bit. He's obviously been running whatever distance he's covered in the past few days.]
So Flare... I found out he breathes fire earlier! Protective little guy, though... he jumped right in front of me to defend me from her when I saw her. I swear, he's just like a dog, except, y'know, he's a Pokemon. And it's good that I don't have to housebreak him, I guess, hehe.
Kay, Johan! I'll run as fast as I can starting tomorrow to catch up with you! It should take a little under a week if I do that, right? No sweat! I'll definitely make it!!
[A heavy, tired sigh, one that makes it sound like Juudai is already drifting off.]
...Hah, but I wonder if it was all a coincidence...?
[It's a few more long moments before he reaches over without bothering to look at what he's doing and turns off the PokeGear.]
