Had a bit of a scare tonight... Something creepy.
What exactly, I'm not sure.
Driving home at approximately 3:13 and suddenly I found myself so completely alone in the world, the most alone I've ever been. A stretch of road where no one could see me, no one could hear me, nomatter what I did. No lights lit where I was, no sounds filled my car except the radio speaking of love and lord. I heard the most peculiar noise then, the sound of something rattling in my car, so I did what anyone in my shoes would do. I looked back to see if perhaps I'd caught something when i'd closed the door. When I turned to look into the mirror I saw something move, something big, and quick. It darted across the reflection of the left-side mirror. From where, to where I didn't know, but out of sight. The noise stopped, and I switched my view to the rear-view. It was there I realized that I could see.... Nothing... Absolutely nothing.... And it was in that moment that I felt a presence in my car that was not myself, something in the back seat. I cursed myself for not checking the car earlier for intruders, curse my carelessness. My rear-view wasn't working, my side mirrors couldn't help my problem either, so I did my best, gripped the closest weapon I had, attached to my car-keys, clutched it well. I smiled outwardly and said "and I think to myself, what a wonderful world we live in." Silence... Still no lights in sight. I was driving blind to my own headlights. I felt the shifting movements in the back of my car but heard nothing. I sat ready, driving like nothing had happened, except for my grip, which was ready to kill anything that might bring me harm. After 3:15 I found light, found lights, found home. The most terrifying moment besides catching movement in my mirror was the last turn into the driveway. After I stopped the car, I got out, snuck a glance at the back-seat and hurried off to my apartment. I didn't see anything, anyone. The owls were howling tonight, more then I'd ever heard before, more numerous and louder then before..
Home at last.
Never gonna let my guard down again.
