So, Dell concluded that my hard drive was buggered, based purely on my written diagnostic report, and they are sending an engineer out *tomorrow* to replace it.
Whilst a hard drive meltdown after two months is not fabulous, I must say that Dell's Customer Service has improved a bit since the last time one of their computers developed a total hard drive failure after a few weeks.
