I've just recently had some surgery done on my right foot which will be my explanation for being absent from the internet for a while (seeing how I can't really walk to the computer and we don't have wireless so I don't get internet on my laptop from the bed). Also I just opened my right index finger earlier today so I can barely type at this point DX
This means I won't be able to draw much or basically do much or even leave the apartment since I've discovered that crutches are USELESS and I can't really hop around anymore without opening the wound. Blech!
I was able to attend the screening of Deathnote and Deathnote: The Last Name at Japan Society last Sunday with some friends from school though. I had seen the first movie before but never the second. And although I've read vague spoilers, what occurred in the film still surprised me. I thought the way they managed to "follow" the manga while at the same time changing the story worked really well. Matsuyama Kenichi was brilliant as ever and I still can't stand Fujiwara(?) Tatsuya's acting. It's so...passive DX Like he didn't embody any of the evil zest that Light had that made me want to punch him repeatedly. He's very good at pretending he's in pain though.
The director, Kaneko Shuusuke, also attended (although he left during the second one to watch Fantastic Four apparently?) and gave a brief Q+A session after the second film and a signing in the reception area. I was surprised by the time constraints they were all under for the film and were amazed they managed to pull through, although sacrificing a bit on the part of plot and actual acting. I've read reviews by people who haven't read the books before and I can imagine it was at least somewhat confusing. The L prequel was also mentioned and will be directed by the guy who did Ringu? Hopefully it'll be good. Actually, it'd better be good T3T
I got him to sign my ticket afterwards and also asked for a photo with (which Janet still needs to send to me) so yay XD
Ugh my foot's swelling again DX Gross!
