Nowadays everyone wants larger. If you go to a fast food restaurant, you want the food super-sized. Every girl wants to make their boobs the size of watermelons. Children want 20% more cereal. And my problem - the size of toilet paper rolls. They are all so large now whether it be from more tissues per roll, an ultra padded wiping experience, or...
both.
Personally, I enjoy the luxury of more tissues per roll. Being caught with en empty roll less often definitely has its advantages. I could go on all day about that. Ultra padded/soft wiping experiences are also nice, I admit.
However, I began to notice a problem with this generation of toilet tissue about a year ago when I moved into my current apartment. These new pillow-sized rolls of tissue are pleasant for the most part, but what about for those of us who live in places where the toilet paper hangers were made decades ago?
My toilet paper roll was designed for standard, receipt paper type tissue or something; maybe small rolls about the size of a can of food. Whatever our parents used.
When that time comes around and I get down to the cardboard, my heart fills with dread because I know exactly what kind of challenge I am in for:
Results from a standard roll, not that luxurious fluff.
It becomes an art trying to retrieve a full tissue torn successfully at its perforation. With normal pulling, only small tears of the toilet paper are possible.
I found out real fast that those small tears of paper are nothing to call home about...
