Earlier today I completed my third
MS150 bike tour from Houston to Austin. For my first year, my motivation was to challenge myself physically and mentally...build a lot of character. The second year, I did it to prove to myself that I could put aside my pains from the first year and do it all again. My third year, I rode so I could have an opportunity for a new facebook picture.
The finish line in Austin.
Heh, j/k. Although the bike tour does gradually tip its scale from being challenging to becoming a more leisurely experience with each year. The only aspect I wish to change in the future is that, in addition to my normal training, I need to sit on a small bike seat for a few hours each day in preparation. Going from not sitting on a real bike seat for a few months and then having to ride on one for two days at durations of five or six hours is a pain...in the ass...that Tylenol and Advil together can't shake a stick at. I imagine that it's worse than prison.
Other than that, everything went by really smoothly this time around. Saturday's rolling hills got a little tiring, but today's portion passed so quickly that it almost felt as though the ride was finished prematurely despite being nearly 80 miles.
