Dear Yuletide Writer

Dear Yuletide Secret Santa Person,

Before I start this letter, I just want to thank you. I hope my requests aren't too troublesome and that you enjoy writing whatever it is you write. :D And honestly, this is here to help (it's difficult writing things sometimes!) but if you want to ignore, go ahead. I am excited to find someone else in most of the fandoms I requested. I will be happy with whatever you write. Once again, thank you so much.

I haven't actually thought too much about this letter, until sign-ups closed and I realized oh shit, I have nothing to say!. So I put off homework (yay procrastination!) to think about this.

(*cough* But before I begin the information on likes and dislikes, here is a shameless plug. If you happen to have gotten my request because of oh, Let Dai, or the fairytale prompt, or The Diamond Age - well. If you want more options, or you just happen to have some spare time in which to read something, or you're curious, here is an upload of Stigma.)

But if more details are good, then here are more:

Dislikes

To get these out of the way
-too much angst (over-the-top, absurd amounts, with weepy emo characters. Yeah, no thank you.)
-really really weak characters,
-really bad OOCness
-seme/uke stereotypes
-anything where someone has an eating disorder or an illness of some sort (unless the character actually has this illness, in canon).
-Character-bashing.

Likes

-Normal, everyday angst
-Get-together fics
-Random scenes in the day/life of people/slice of life type stuff
-Gen/friendship fic
-Open endings (although I have a huge soft spot for actually happy endings)
-Lyrical/poetical prose. Not over the top, purple-prose type stuff. But metaphors and descriptions and things.
-Subtlety, especially when it comes to relationships and romance.

Nothing is too outrageous for me. I like dues ex machinas and plot devices and genderswap and wing!fic. I like it when cliches are twisted and made interesting or entertaining, I like terribly cheesy AU ideas, retellings of fairytales in any form, modern day fairytales, things with sad tones and happy tones and a combination of both, serious things, and

Uh. I know there are more things I like but I can't think of them right now. I blame it on the time.

And more specifics (ignore if you want, use if it's helpful!):

Stigma
I love the relationship between Stork and Tit. I ship it, and I'm perfectly fine with them being only friends (if friends is what you'd define them as; they're more like a very interesting family). Interaction between the two of them makes me happy.

If you want to ignore the prompt, go ahead. Them on that journey to find the blue skies and birds would be more than okay with me. Just - anything with them is perfectly okay with me.

Let Dai
I love how the manga leaves the end open to so many possibilities. My request mentions Jaehee leaving for America, but if you want to go ten years down the road, go for it. Anything featuring the two of them post-series would be perfect. If you can't write them post-series, then even something during the series would be awesome - first time sex, the two of them in the cabin near the end, even more of Jaehee, Dai, Naru, and Eunhyung together during the series.

The relationship between Jaehee and Dai is one of the most interesting things about the series for me, so I'd love an exploration of their dynamics. (However! The thing that kept me hooked was Eunhyung and the relationship she developed with everyone, especially her girlfriends, especially Sehee, and if you'd would like to include something featuring those two - directly or indirectly - would be amazing.

The Diamond Age
This is currently number one on my list of favorite books. I was drawn in because omg talking book, I want one! And stayed because I fell in love with the characters. I asked only for Nell, but any of the other characters you want to include is fine by me. And the requests pretty much sums up what I'd like to see - Nell after everything happens, either in her role as ruler of those girls and trying to figure out her place, or trying to figure out her relationship with Miranda without the book between them (and since Carl seems like he's going to be sticking around, bonus points for him). If you'd rather not write for anything set post-canon, something between the girls (Nell, Elizabeth, and Fiona) during the series would be wonderful. (I like the comment the Duke makes about the three girls, the contrast between them.)

The Nightingale
Fairytales were my first love and will probably be the thing I always fall back on. Honestly, I can't add anything to this request. Write whatever would make you happy - a retelling, a reimagining, thoughts of various people during the Emperor's illness, anything!

Good luck, Yuletide writer, and thank you so much! :D

yuletide
