Your sheets are clean,
And ruffled, and where
You lie with me they
Are creased, and
Crisp against my skin.
They rise now
Just a bit, and float
Gently down again, and
Now balloon fully
Up with wind, and
I feel it now
Between my toes.
Your eyelids are so
Smooth. It’s soothing to
Be lying here. I’ll
Wait, and play with
Your hair a little,
And draw imaginary
Lines between the
Freckles on your cheeks.
But when I’ve used
Them all I’ll draw
My face a little closer,
And time myself to
Breathe when you exhale.
