Annual Danica Patrick Stalkathon - Day the First!
Friday went fairly well!
DANICA! Drove up to my parents in Williamsburg to have lunch and do laundry.
DANICA! Went and visited Sarah at her store, and ended up buying a big stack of comics (mostly current/semi-current stuff on my want-list and stuff to get signed at Dragon*Con and Baltimore Comic Con.) I actually had to make myself stop shopping because Sarah was going to be buying my stuff with her discount, and I didn't want to take advantage... and I had just come back from HeroesCon the weekend before, where I spent more $$$ than I expected.*
DANICA! Arrived at Richmond International Raceway in time to scope out where the autograph section was, and then watched the driver qualifications. Danica qualified last, and it looks like I got some decent pictures of her on track. She's still using her orange color scheme, which I really don't like. Dario Franchitti ended with the Pole Position, and Danica will be starting 10th.
DANICA! After qualifying I went and stood in line for almost two hours for the autograph session. Last year they had it in an air-conditioned building, where this year we we outside in the hot sun. WTF? Of course, Danica's line was longest. I got to meet her, which makes the second time (technically the third, but she isn't really aware of our first encounter.) The line handlers were rushing people through - only two autographs, and no posing for pics:(
DANICA! I barely had time to go through another line because they were strict about keeping the autograph session to 1 hour. I thought i was in Franchitti's line... until I got up front and realized I was in line for the "unknown" driver next to him! I was pissed, but when I got up front I just leaned over and asked Dario for his autograph, and he said "Sure dude, here you are!" I was hoping Ashley Judd (his wife) would be there so I could get her autograph, but she wasn't - she's always there for the race though so maybe I'll run into her tonight.
DANICA! Left RIR and met up with Camille and Sarah. Fixed the brakes on Sarah's new bike, then headed over to a Mexican place for dinner. Strawberry margarita and supreme nachos FTW!
DANICA! Made it back to the Rental Compound barely awake, but with comics, autographs, and nummy foods - not a bad day at all!

* totally raided the $1 and 50-cent bins and found lots of semi-current books, including a lot I got signed that weekend - also found Catwoman #1 (Darwynn Cooke will be at D*C) and Logan's Run #1 (George Perez!) - and Watchmen, Ultimates S1, and Serenity hardcovers for 50% off!!!
