Okay.  So.  There are cracks in the kitchen wall that were growing and beginning to worry me.  I figured before I called the insurance company to ask for a structural engineer and a fix, we'd better check for termites (not covered) first.  And besides, we have no annual contract on the house at present because the local rates gave me a fit of

Ugh, termites. I'm so sorry. We had a third of our siding replaced three months after we moved in because of the little buggers. I think they are a bit of a problem down here in the south. I hope it's not too bad. I hope it doesn't take a second mortgage to fix it either. O.o Actually, what kind of house/siding do you have? We are six hours north of you, but up here there was a big class-action lawsuit against the makers of our masonite siding. Apparently it sucks so they are giving away lots of money to help replace it. We finally got a check in the fall. Might be worth looking into

Around here, it's carpenter ants. They are somewhere inside our house, but we don't know where. We don't get a great many inside, but construction workers have found nests in the past. Ugh.

So little one is becoming long one? Just long, or is he getting big all over?
