MUSE report ♥ ♥ ♥

Dec 14, 2006 00:58

It's been almost a week since the concert, but I can't go see Muse ♥ ♥ ♥ in concert and not report about it. ^_^

The concert was FANTASTIC. Everything I thought it would be (having heard tons of stories about Muse being a band one MUST see live) and more. ♥ ♥ ♥ Live, they rock even more than on the records. Matt's voice is very strong, so he delivers the songs perfectly, high pitch included. ♥ ♥ ♥ And if Dom doesn't have THE coolest drum kit installation on the planet, I'll eat my socks. ♥ ♥ ♥

I was quite far from the stage because I never feel like getting there 2 or even 3 hours early just so I can see the performer up close. I'm very happy if I manage to get near the stage arriving at a normal hour, but if I can't, well, then I can't. No getting there first and running across the hall and then hanging there like a lemon for two hours like jerneja XD for me, thankyouverymuch.

Absolute highlight:
When they were doing Bliss, these huge-ass balloons came flying from some machine under the stage. LOTS of them. The crowd was passing them around then, so they were bouncing around the hall for the entire song. It looked fabulous.
When the song was over, there were around 8 balloons left. And Dom said: "You have to pop the balloons before we can continue playing. That's how it's done." So the band was just standing around on the stage for a few minutes, laughing at the crowd trying to pop the balloons. They rock. XD Then a few people pulled out their lighters, and popped the balloons, and the concert continued.

Sis found some clips from the concert on youtube.com, so here they are, if anyone is interested (they're all around 1 minute, so not too long):

Knights of Cydonia, because it looks super-cool with the words appearing on the wallscreen:

Starlight, because it's their biggest hit at the moment, and you can hear the crowd singing along, and because of the groovy stars on the wallscreen:

Bliss, because of the uberkewl balloons:

Supermassive Black Hole, because of the bizzare robots on the wallscreen:

And finally, Sunburn, because you can sort of see Dom's groovy drum kit installation on the left, and because I like it when Matt plays the piano ^_^ :

(Can you tell I liked the wallscreen? XD)

Oh, and the person filming this must have been standing very near me, because this is the view I had of the show almost exactly.

zmecka: You seem to get this whole youtube business, is there a way for me to get these clips? As in download them?

And now, as far as Wien goes... Funny story. XD My sis (who went with me to the concert, in case I forgot to mention) doesn't really care about Muse. She doesn't really know Muse. She knew, like, 5 songs before we left. But she figured "Hey, it's a rock concert, I like those, and V. is making such a fuss about it, I might as well check it out. Plus she might get lost and never find her way back home if she goes alone (awwwwwww). Plus I'll get a chance to get some shopping done (there are certain shops she loves in Wien)." So we get to Wien around 6 in the afternoon, and it takes us about 10 minutes to make our way to Mariahilferstrasse, where the shops are. And we get there, and we realise that 8th December is a huge holiday in Austria, and all the shops had closed for the day at... 6 o'clock. Sis was NOT happy. XD

So we went to Kafka Cafe, which I swear was haunted by Kafka and it felt really odd and so we left without ordering, and McDonalds, where I ordered the wrong thing for sis because my German sucks and the girl at the register didn't speak English, and then to the venue.

I wanted to get a Muse bag at the venue, but they sold them out by the time I got there (>_>, minor setback to my not getting there too early rule), so I got myself a Muse wallet instead. ♥ ♥ ♥
Like so: http://muse.trinitystreetdirect.com/store/page4.asp?suptype=&t=1&sub_type=3&prod_id=29&col=30
I'd get a T-shirt, but I know I'd never wear it out of the house, and 25-40 € seemed a bit much for a T-shirt I'd wear for sleeping. Muse or no Muse.

So yeah, that's my report. The plan was I also post my b-day party pictures in the update, but this took so long to write, I'll do that some other time. Now I'm off to bed. Nite-nite! *hugs all*

P.S.
I hate the new "Update Journal" layout. But I always hate new layouts because they confuse me. Perhaps it'll grow on me.
