Der Untergang

Yesterday, I saw the (relatively) new German movie Der Untergang. I guess it caused quite some scandals in Germany when it was released just recently - and has just been released to quite a lot of press in Denmark. It is about Hitler's last few weeks, when he was living in various bunkers in Berlin, whilst the Russian army pushed ever closer. Really strange film, truthfully - it portrayed Hitler and all his inner-core of associates as one of their fellows might have seen them - instead of as a monster. And, don't get me wrong, he came across as crazed and vulgar - but not in a cartoonish-scary-monster way - but in a very human way. I'd highly recommend checking out this film. It is definitely very heavy - I don't think I've seen a film with as many people killing themselves - but worth seeing.

But now I must finish a presentation about Stanley Kubrick - going to Berlin next week, and they have some large expo about him there.
