So, last weekend, I took the train to Sjæland (the island that København is on) to go to a party that
Krogerup Højskole was throwing and had invited my school to. The band
Penelope Leaves came with us (the synth player works in the kitchen here) and played quite a nice concert in the evening. The train ride to København was filled with drinking and general merriment (as any good saturday afternoon train-ride should be!) - and by the time we arrived at Krogerup, we were all a bit more than tipsy. Imagine the scene, walking into a school cafeteria, 3/4 empty case of beer and a 1/2 bottle of wine in hand - while all the other students are just sitting and eating dinner. Anyhow, that sort of set the tone for the whole evening. While a few of the students from Krogerup were quite out-going and social, for the most part, it was just like a party here, only transferred to Sjæland. Eh, anyhow - I spent quite a lot of time trying to work some magic with some girl - but it failed miserably (perhaps due to my state of inebriation? nah - it couldn't be!) - and so resigned myself to playing pool and drinking far too much.
The next morning I was awoken at noon (hey, that's very early for a sunday morning for me!), ate a scone, had a little of nature's-best hangover relief, and then walked to
Louisiana - a very nice modern art museum located just 5 minutes from Krogerup. But, I was a bit to anxious to get to København, as were the others with me, so we just breezed through. The highlight of the tour was me being told by 3 different guards that I needed to take my backpack off. The first guy said that I would hit people with it, and thus it was too dangerous. The second seemed to imply that I would steal paintings. The third seemed the most rational, saying that I could turn around aburptly and damage some art. So, we finished up there, and walked to the train station to take the train to København.
But, things don't always function well at train-stations. Specifically speaking - my friend Jakob was waiting on the train while others with us were buying their tickets. And when the doors started to beep, and Olga and Liis did not have their tickets, he didn't think to step off. So we waved goodbye to him - sad eyes blinking in the train window - and sat down to wait 25 minutes until the next train came. Upon arriving in København we tried to meet up with him again, but we eventually found out that he just decided to go back to Århus.
We visited dear ol
Christiania, of course, and then walked to Vesterbrø, to Magnus and Matias' place. (Thanks again for the hospitality guys!). We then proceeded to drink lots of cheap red wine (I tell you, I'm officially a wino nowadays), participate in a few other clandestine activities - (oh, Malder is back from Uganda, by the way... he seems to have had a great time and is now working/figuring out what to do with life) and then head out to
Stengade 30 for
Rub a Dub Sunday.
(if you don't know what this is - in this club Nørrebrø they have reggae/dub/dancehall/etc playing from 10pm - 5am every Sunday night - a great party that I highly recommend)
We chilled there until about 1:30 in the morn, and then shared a cab back to the hovudbanegård, where we caught the 2am train to Århus. But - none of the machines worked in the train station to buy tickets, so we went aboard ticketless. And soon enough the comptroller came. We tried to explain our situation, but none of us were taking it too seriously (lack of sobriety may have again played a crucial role here) - finally she came back and sold us tickets - for about 50 DKK cheaper than they should have been. Sweet. Arrived in Århus around 6am monday morning, headed back to Ask, and hit the sack.
Anyway, I'll try to get some pictures if any were taken and post them up here. Also I'm sure in a few days there will be some up at Rub-A-Dub's website.
Now I need to make dinner, take a shower, and do a bunch of homework.
(oh and if anybody is planning on going to the Eek a Mouse show in Løppen, let me know... Emil was talking about going - I'm not sure yet if I have enough money but I shall see)
