Hi, Yuletide Author!

Nov 20, 2011 14:13

Hooray, Yuletide author, I'm so glad you're here! Let me explain what my requests meant, since I was in a huge rush and left the details box totally blank.  Helpful, I know.  If you were way excited to get blank prompts, then go no further! You are awesome for offering any of these things, and I would love whatever you feel like writing for any of them.  There's only one thing I strongly dislike in fic, and that's infidelity.  If you can avoid that, we will be cool. If not, my love for these fandoms will probably overcome my random infidelity squick, so, you know, no hard feelings.

Now, the actual requests:

1. My Drunk Kitchen (web series)

Yuletide buddy, if we were matched on something besides My Drunk Kitchen, please allow me to introduce you to the magic that is Hannah Hart.  (If you did offer My Drunk Kitchen, then yay! It's hilarious, right? Right.  Go team.)  If you've never seen My Drunk Kitchen, it's a YouTube series where a hilarious and awesome lady gets drunk and attempts to cook food.  I like it because she seems like your kooky, booze-loving friend who just happened to make a video about combining alcoholic beverages and a hot stove.  Here's a link to episode one, Butter Yo Shit, which is a good place to start.

My favorite My Drunk Kitchen is Not Easy, Bake Oven, where our intrepid heroine attempts to make cookies.  It's amazing.  It's so amazing that I have embedded it here:

In conclusion, lovely author, I adore this show, and I can't imagine anything more awesome than fic about it.  What kind of fic?  Maybe MDK gets picked up by Food Network, and Hannah gets drunk with Alton Brown.  Maybe you want to write the script of a future MDK episode featuring her attempts to make a wedding cake.  I will be so full of glee over anything MDK-related that you can do no wrong here, Yuletider.

2.  Actor RPF (Ellen Page, Emma Stone, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt)

I felt bad leaving the details box on this one blank, because I was imagining the perplexed look on the face of someone who offered Actor RPF getting this mishmash.  I will explain: this is all
sansets's fault.  Okay, not entirely.  But
sansets said something like, "I want Ellen Page/Emma Stone for Yuletide!" and my brain went HOLY SHIT, YES, I WOULD LIKE THAT ALSO.  I don't know much about Emma Stone, for the record, besides that she's cute and has red hair and was excellently witty in Easy A.  And Ellen Page is pocket-sized and adorable and wry and can juggle. In short, Ellen Page/Emma Stone sounds really great to me for some reason, and if you feel like writing that, I would love it.  I would love friendship gen with them hanging out and talking or being awesome together or shippy, femslashy stuff equally as much.

Also under this prompt, I feel I should mention I love Ellen Page (see above), and any Ellen-related fic would make my life, especially friendshippy stuff where she hangs out with Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, or Tom/Joe/Ellen (I realize this is an extremely unusual request, but Yuletide author, they would have to scrape me off the floor if you wrote this).  I also have infinite heart eyes for both Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, on their own, or together, being dudes or making out or being dudes who make out. Whatever you can get into, Yuletider, rest assured that if any of the people in that prompt are involved, I will be into it also.

And now, the Tom Hardy pic I most recently can't stop looking at:

My favorite Ellen Page picture of all time:

3. Community

I requested Abed, Annie, and Troy in the characters field, but I love them all.  This is my favorite show (so bummed about it going into hiatus limbo.  SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE) and anything about it would make me extremely happy.  But Troy and Abed are my favorites.  And I also like Annie, and I feel like there's a lot of potential in their recent cohabitation.  Also, for the record, Annie/Britta femslash would be up my alley, too.  But seriously, for Community, I would enjoy gen, het, slash, OT3 - wherever you want to go, Yuletide friend, I will go there with you.  If you haven't seen it, Yuletider, and you like smart, hilarious, meta things, then I recommend it.  Watch it, and tell all your friends, and maybe we can save it from cancellation. Wah, cancellation :'((((

Obligatory clip of Abed and Troy (or, also, Danny Pudi and Don Glover, since this is kind of a blooper reel) being funny:

edited to add: Okay, so, if you wanted to write my #1 Community request of all time, it would be Abed/Annie/Troy role playing Han Solo/Princess Leia/Luke Skywalker. THINK ABOUT IT. So great. Anyway.

4. American Girls: Samantha - Various Authors

I think that "childhood fandoms grow up" should be a designated tagset in Yuletide, at this point.  Let me tell you, Yuletide writer: I was obsessed with Samantha as a kid.  I'm pretty sure she was my first girl crush.  If my nine-year-old self had been on that Mary Sue meme that just went around, I would have written all about how I wanted to hang out with Samantha and be plucky and fearless and wear bloomers and have adventures.  I had the "Dress Like Your Doll" Samantha nightgown and I wore that thing to rags.  Googling for that, I just found out two things: one, there is an American Girl wiki, awesome; two, Samantha was archived, omg.  I feel old.  MY CHILDHOOD IS OVER.  Tears.

Sorry.  Anyway, my point is, Samantha fic.  It would be stupendous.  Samantha as a young woman, coming of age during WWI?  During the flapper era?  More stories about her running around with Nellie?  Or maybe a story from Nellie's POV?  All of these would be amazing, or anything else you want to write.  (Since, apparently, the theme of my requests this year is "femslash for everything," I feel like I should note here that I would totally be down for Samantha/Nellie.)  If you need a refresher on the books, there's a list and partial summaries on the American Girls wiki.  Wikis for everything! We live in the future.

So that's all I have, Yuletider.  If you made it this far, I am seriously impressed by your fortitude.  Thank you for offering one of my fandoms, and for writing me a story.  Happy Yuletide. <3
