Ugh.
I haven't really been this sick in a while. Of course, i think that's because I'm used to getting strep throat, and not the cold/flu, which is definitely what i have now. Probably the flu, given the ever present nausea.
Speaking of nausea, the vice-presidential debate just finished.
Joking aside, the debate was actually pretty good. A hell of a lot better than the recent presidential debate. I wish there were going to be more of them. Cheney and Edwards did a lot better job of talking to and against each other, rather than simply giving campaign speeches. There was more actual debate going on. That being said, there was a lot of the same old bullshit as well. Evasion, misdirection, outright lying, and so on. But these two were a lot smarter about it. It was actually kind of fun to watch, if you forgot the fact that one of these two will be the next vice president. There were a lot of really sharp barbs being thrown out there on both sides.
Also, as soon as the transcripts become available, I'm going to post the entire dialogue between the two on gay marriage, because it was incredibly interesting and telling in many ways, primarily on Cheney's part.
Ultimately, I think it's pretty clear that politics is too complicated for these debates. Especially those 30-second rebuttals...they really need to cut those out, because those things don't really advance anything at all.
