NaNoWriMo: End Results

Dec 14, 2010 18:59

As per usual, in the time immediately after NaNoWriMo nothing much happens for me that I don't have to do. So non-critical things slide for a while, hence the long gap between my last NaNo post and this.

I have to admit, I nearly gave up on my upper word count goal towards the end. On the 28th, the day I flew home, I wrote both on the plane and the train and got quite a bit done. As soon as I got home, however, it all went downhill and I hardly did anything despite having the whole afternoon to myself.
On the 29th, I got home and did other things because, now that I had the internet again whenever I wanted it, I kept getting distracted. I figured, I was in my word count goal range, that was good enough. Then, at 21:30 or so, I got inspiration and started writing. I got quite a bit done, which made my upper goal possible again. Because of that, I just couldn't give up, not being so close.
On the 30th, I went to the final write-in and wrote a lot. Then I got home and wrote some more. The moment I did a count and was over 150k, though, I stopped right then and there in the middle of the scene.

My final word count for the month: 150,156

This brought me to a total of 336,302 words for the year, leaving me with 13,698 words for December in order to make my WriYe goal.
