so this happened
Good afternoon. It's almost 9 AM where I came from, therefore I am almost ready to get out of bed.
Last night it transpired that after I wake up at 6:45 AM for a friendly drive from Lake Tahoe to San Francisco, followed by airports, I am not very good at decisions. Instead of taking the regular route of shuttle to A to walking, I numbly followed some German people with whom we didn't share a destination. I took bus B15 to the end of 3 train, thankfully replaced by 4. The bus was full to the brim with people whose shifts were done at midnight on a Sunday. I was exhausted and sad on their behalf: for some reason I assumed they were all going to have to come in for work the next morning, which is not necessarily the case. Shout out to the Hispanic lady who gave me the change for my $2 and the bus driver who called me sweetheart: thank you!
Then there was the matter of waiting for the subway for around 40 minutes. By then the slight homey relief I felt listening to the steward welcome us to NY had mostly dissipated. Oh well. It did return when I got back home to the one plant I have, collapsed on the floor looking like it was trying to escape, and mostly dairy in my empty fridge which I am not eating for the month of August. Yes, I met a Chinese acupuncture student in San Fran who read my palm, tinkered with my ankles and told me to cast dairy out for a month and see what happens. In any case, when I came home I had this homey NY feeling not because of all that, but because I returned to a book copy of the book I've been reading on my kindle while away, and the book copy opened exactly on the spot where I left off! That was awesome.
