You won't like me when I'm upset.

This entry will only be completely understood by those of you who have worked in a store and have delt with the occassional customer from hell. I work at Tuesday Morning, which happens to be a clearance store for bargain shoppers, so basically our store is filled with a bunch of really interesting stuff and everything is cheaply priced. The only problem with working in a clearance store is that it's messy and the prices are weird with the discounts and sales all the time.

Recently, I had to work an eight hour shift, and a customer stopped me in the store and asked for my assistance with pulling down a large childrens' play set. The damn thing weighed like 80 lbs. but I gotta do what the customer wants as store policy, so I get a ladder and somehow I got it down without breaking my neck. The item wasn't the price she wanted it to be, so she started to bitch at me like it was my fault or something.

She asked if the price was $23.99 plus 40% off, and I was like, "Umm... let me check really quick." I tilt the box a little, and the sticker says $39.99 plus 40% off. The lady was like, "No, no. That can't be. I came in here a few days ago and it was written on the side of the box as $23.99 and then the 40% off sticker was on the top." I said, "I think that was written on the side as the overall price because during our Christmas Sale a lot of people were asking how much it was and since the original price tag is on the bottom nobody can see it unless we pull it down, so I think someone wrote the price on the side with the original price and the 40% off already." She had this look on her face like I had just took a shit right there infront of her; she was totally appalled. She started to tell me about this long story of how she came all the way from Lakeside to get this (20 minute drive) and now she finds that it's way more than she wanted to pay for it since she thought it would be $14.39. I was like, "I'm sorry for your dilemma, but I can't do anything about this... I'm really sorry." Then, she started bitching at me in the middle of the store for not taking the price down for her.

I was holding back so much... I wanted to grab her by that fat goddamn gullet and tear her throat out, then as she dropped to the ground painting the floor in a lovely shade of scarlet, i would pick the huge box up and use it to beat her to death while screaming, "the price is fucking $23.99 damnit!", and I would sure as hell make certain that I was crushing every bone in her whole fucking body. After taking care of that pathetic disgrace of a human, I probably would run around the store slashing and gashing every customer that I could find. I'd hunt them all like a pack of wolves would hunt sheep...

...I just kept a smile on my face and continued to apologize to the woman because that's all I could do if I want to keep my job. It was so incredibly hard with all of those ideas floating around in my head of how I could shut her up and dispose of her because she does not deserve the life she has been granted.

Eventually, I noticed my eyes were starting to develope an evil squint, and those are the warning signs of a man who is ready to snap, so I told her, "I have to get back to work or else I'm going to get in trouble, and I hope you have a wonderful day." Then, I bolted into the staff bathroom and collected myself before I went back out to finish my work. It was then I realized I need to find a better job... one that doesn't require me to deal with impatient and moronic customers. So now, if anyone else has ever had a similar expeirence, please do share it with me and leave a comment, so that I can add it to my list of people who deserve to die when I become ruler of the universe...
