Well that was fun.... My wheel broke. Like, BROKE broke. The lug pattern of the rim is still attached, but the rest of the wheel is not. And no, this isnt from doing anything stupid, I was going 35, in a straight line, when all of a sudden it felt like I got a flat, half a second later, the car shuddered and there was the sound of metal on asphalt. The rim apparently had some fatigue, and it just randomly decided to show itself in a not so pleasant way.
So an hour of waiting on a tow at 3 in the morning, a swarm of mosquitoes, a trek across a super soaked ditch to retrieve the other part of the wheel, and a massive ant attack when I got to it, makes for a fairly sleepless night.
The car is sitting out front now, today I've got my work cut out for me. Find a new wheel, new rotor (since this one went kapluk when it hit the pavement), see how badly the steering got fucked on it, figure out anything else that might've gone, etc. This is just to get it moving again.
I've also got to yank the fender off to get it back in line.
I'm actually pretty lucky, there really isn't so much damage, the fender is only slightly bent and wont leave anything noticeable when I bend it back. It coulda made a whole lot more mess, especially on a vehicle not so beefy.
