Isn't it funny that on the same day that Donald Fehr announced that a new steroids agreement was soon to be ratified by the players union, Barry ("Everyone is out to get me because I'm black") Bonds announces he might be out for the upcoming 2005 season. This is the same Bonds who on the day of Congressional hearings about the use of steroids in baseball, went in for a checkup and had unannounced surgery on his knee. A surgery that not only surprised teammates, but also the coaching staff. Barry will say it has nothing to do with steroids, but without playing, he won't be tested.
I would bet that when Bonds comes back, we will see a slimmer version of him. Of course, he won't be as strong because he won't be working out at all during his time rehabbing his knee, so that will be the logical explanation as to why he is so much smaller. But that’s like saying that Rafael Palmeiro now does all those Viagra adds because his dick shrunk on its own and steroids played no part in that either.
So I guess what I'm getting at is this. Bonds said to the media today: "I'm tired of my kids crying. You wanted me to jump off a bridge, I finally did. You finally brought me and my family down. ...So now go pick a different person." Barry, as much as I dislike the media, the media did not bring you down. Your use of steroids and blatant cheating in the game of baseball brought you down.
Pete Rose is banned from the game for life for gambling. He did not cheat to make himself a better player. Steroid use is a federal offense in the United States. Any "regular" person caught with steroids is going to jail. I do not believe you for one second that when you told a grand jury that you used the "cream" and the "clear" that you had no clue what was going into your body. As far as I am concerned, what you did was just as bad as gambling on baseball and you not only deserve the same punishment as Pete Rose, but unlike Rose, all of your records and accomplishments should be stricken from the books.
Guys like Rose, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth and Ted Williams are real heroes and real baseball players who had real careers. You sir Mr. Bonds are no real baseball player and your career is nothing more than a farce.
