If you live in town, get another WATcard. 4 year bus pass for $20.

It's actually 6 years. I just got mine renewed for free, since it was about to expire.

They'll also renew it for free if you no longer look like your photo. I know this. (Hint: my photo was from my OAC year. Yes, I had an OAC year.)

If you're in CS or some computer related courses, you may be eligible for MSDN-AA copies of various software for free.

Great suggestion. I might as well pick up cheap software while I'm still here.

Only works if you're actively taking classes. I just checked today and I'm no longer on the 'in' list. Oh well... I don't use windows these days anyway.

Not as exciting as free telescope use, but the Career Services appointments are really useful. Job mock interviews, resume, cover letter, CV, professional school mock interview, professional/grad school planning, Professional/Graduate School Application/Personal Statement Review, career exploration/decision making, and work search inside or outside Canada. They have workshops on all kinds of things too.

Also, counseling services and health services. It's much easier to see a doctor or a counselor as a UW student than as an average person.

Wow, thanks for reminding me about Career Services. Some of their tests / workshops cost only $10 for students but much, much more for non-students.

Something else that's relevant to Career Services - I'm not sure if this is during the fall and winter term too, but I know for a fact that during the first 3 months of the Spring term, you can go to the SLC every Thursday between 11:30 and 1:00, and an advisor will be on site to answer questions about career decisions, resumes, cover letters, grad school etc. The advice is free and you get treats!

Getting an ISIC card comes to mind, at Travel Cuts. They'll ask you to actually bring in your fee statement for the term to prove that you're enrolled - but the card is usually good for just over a year. Then, you can get a variety of discounts, including a decent discount on Via Rail tickets.

I couldn't figure out if LJ allows for comment RSS feeds, so I made one for this thread. Find it here: http://feed43.com/7300774713557722.xml
