Asian Pop Addict Haiti Relief Show
Hi, everyone.
My friends over at the weekly Asian Pop Addict (APOPA) podcast are reaching out to all of us in the Asian Pop fandom (and otherwise because all help is good help) to take part in their Haiti Relief show.
APOPA will be broadcasting a special Haiti Relief show Saturday Jan 30th from 8pm - 2am ET, Jan 31 10am Japan & Korea time. They will be streaming video live from the studio at http://www.ustream.tv/asianpopaddict and audio of show will be available for download at their site the next day.
Part of the show will include interviews with people who have been affected directly by this tragedy and possibly artists who would like to and express their thoughts about Haiti and also donate. They are working closely with K-Hip Hop artist Drunken Tiger JK who wants to get the word out there.
Ways you can help:
☆Auction
APOPA will also be holding an auction, the proceeds of which will of course go to Haiti. If you have stuff you want to auction off, e-mail APOPA at asianpopaddict@gmail.com and let 'em know.
☆Donations
For individuals who have donated, if you e-mail proof of your donation to APOPA, you can get a shout out on the show.
Charity Navigator has a great list of organizations you can help as well as some helpful tips so you don’t get scammed.
Those of you heading up large donation projects (perhaps through a fanclub or an auction you put together, or some other method), you can also contact APOPA with proof of your group’s donation and they’ll bring you on the show to share how much your group raised and which organization you donated to.
I was given this note about PayPal: “using PayPal wouldn't be such a great idea because due to the fees they charge the ones in the end who end up with the most money is PayPal and not Haiti. So of course we don't want that.”
Just something to keep in mind.
IMPORTANT EDIT: Partners In Health is a great organization you can help out and they also keep track of the donations. You can choose to donate "in honor of..." Asian Pop 4 Haiti and put in asianpopaddict@gmail.com - this will let APOPA know directly what you've contributed. Click the pic to see what I mean.
At the end of the show APOPA will announce the grand total.
Please have all your donation receipts sent to them by Friday at midnight ET.
