Character: Viki
Series: Suikoden series
Age: 16, perpetually

Canon: So, you say you only have a rough idea what goes on in Suikoden? That's okay, so does Viki. She's one of the few characters to be in every installment of the main series, despite it spanning almost two hundred years. Viki is a mage who specializes in teleportation, you see, and apparently that includes accidental time travel. Oops, right? So the epic war stories she participates in go a little bit over her head. Whenever destiny gathers 108 people to form an army for some noble and angsty cause, she's there.

In a word, Viki is ditzy. How much so seems to vary with the era, but she always has her quirks. You can't really blame her for getting a bit confused after acting out the same scenario five times, after all. Underneath it she's a very nice girl, always happy to help in whatever small way she can, and perfectly content when that means standing around waiting to be spoken to for hours on end. Viki can take care of herself if she really has to, but she knows full well that someone else can generally do it better. And she really doesn't mess up her magic that often... unless she sneezes, anyway.

Sample Post:

Ah, excuse me, sir! I'm sorry to bother you, but I really need some help. I'm Viki! Pleased to meet you! I've just been terribly confused ever since I got here. I'm getting used to finding myself in strange new places after I sneeze, which is why I'm not supposed to have pepper, milk, flowers, pets, or direct sunlight, after all. (I wish I'd remembered that.) But this seems... different from most wars I've been in.

First of all, I just can't seem to understand this castle. Oh! Sorry, I mean, I'm sure it'll be lovely with a bit of craftwork and a few exorcists. What I mean is that the castles I've been to before were usually one big building with towers and things, and not so much a set of tiny run-down cabins where the walls bleed. And I don't think it's legal for me to see what the topiary figures are doing to each other, but they really shouldn't laugh at me for looking away, should they?

Also, I've been trying really hard to follow the story this time, but I can't figure out who we're fighting at all. There's not much room inside this barrier, so you'd think an enemy army would be easy to find. But the only organized group I've been able to find is made up of cockroaches, and I can't tell who they're fighting. What is this "bourgeoisie" they keep yelling about?

I'm not really sure how much use I can be in such a small area, anyway. So far the only teleportation request I've been getting is for "anywhere," but it seems like the people who say that don't really mean it. Mostly they come right back and change it to "anywhere but this place," except for that one poor guy who ended up in the lake. I hope he recovers all right.

Huh? Well, of course I can teleport you too, but -- wait, I was just saying -- No, I can't get you out of here, really, please let go. Okay, if you really insist I can try to help you, but I can't concentrate with you shaking me like that -- ah!

...Wow! My spells have never backfired quite like that before. I wonder whose bra that is! Oh, do you need help getting it off, sir?

84.3%. I... so happy.
I'm also going to be good and resist the compulsion to go into awkward-making detail on what I wish I'd done better. ^_^
