On My Way Everywhere ~~ 01 ~ Commuter Line, June 08, 2014

Jun 11, 2014 10:55

Out of my home at around 12.30, and took small public transport (we call it "angkot") to get to the nearest train station.

The weather was HOT! and the wind was not helping that before long I already sweating profusely.

The way with the angkot was uneventful, but nearing the train station we got stuck in traffic that I decided to walk the rest of the way.

This was the first time I took the commuter line alone in Jakarta so a bit "udik" was understandable since I haven't get around on the know how. Well, this was only my second time and the first time I was with my sister and she lent me her other card so no queueing necessary.

Anyway, I bought my daily one time passenger ticket wich consist of the fare I needed to pay for my trip and security deposit of Rp 5,000 for the card which I could get a refund on the end of trip.

Apparently I  had missed the train so I needed to wait around 1 hour for the next one. So I sat on some ledge since there was no chair for me to sit on and looked around.

The station was clean (PT. KAI really serious about making commuter line work for Jakarta so far... good job!), no street vendor inside the platforms. There are security guards everywhere patrolling and giving directions to people eventhough not many people around since it was Sunday.

My train came at around 14.45 (I could be wrong about the time, but it was around that time) and I boarded it. Again, not many people in the train since it was Sunday. The interior of the train was like other commuter train everywhere... the seating was along the wall of the train, the seat was comfortably made of mattress and sofa fabrics. I hope they will last since in the long run the materials will worn out and if not frequently changed will not only bad for the sight but also not good for the health. The air conditioner was working fine so I was quite happy ^^

It took around half an hour to get to the interchange which I should change train. At "Duri" station I come off at platform 2 and waited at platform 3 for my next ride. I didn't have to buy another ticket because I have bought it on the first station so I only needed to wait.

Duri station was not like the first station i departed. This one has 4 platforms and like other interchange, it was crowded!... OMG!...

I probably was not accurate with this information but as i waited, there was train from rangkas bitung which was a rural area in Banten province. The train was still a traditional economy class train (I might not be accurate in the naming of this kind of train). 1/3 of the people in the platform 3 were waiting for that train so, after the train departed there were less people waiting, but it still crowded since this station was in the densely populated area and people can still get into the station without having to pass the entrance although I think they couldn't as freely boarded the train without paying (at least for commuter line) anymore.

... to be continued..
