Why I'm glad to have had MLK Day off in 2013.
When I heard my youngest refer to President Obama's swearing-in as the "inniggeration," I realized that, had my company been open today, I would've very likely heard the same unlovely phrase from at least three or four of my co-workers (not including a couple of my bosses); even money that at least one of them would've coupled it with describing today as "National Dead Nigger Day."
Since I'm taking a couple of PTO days, hopefully my co-workers' (and bosses') outrage over Obama's re-election will have abated enough by the time I go back to work that I won't have to hear it.
'Cause I can reprimand my kid, for all the good that it does; if I cuss out and/or dope-slap my co-workers (and bosses...), I'll be haled before HR.
Hmmm: might be why my employer hasn't had the annual "sensitivity" training class for a few years now; they got tired of paying good money for no noticeable effect.
