After taking Lorraine to the Raj restaurant a few months ago to try Indian food she has gained a real taste for it, so much so we have been eating Raj take-away at least once a week for the last couple of months (because we have no cooker - honest). Anyhow we’ve been working our way through the various curries and they have been getting very slowly stronger. Tonight we shared a Tandoori Chicken which always goes down extremely well. Then we shared a Chicken Jalfrezi. I served up the curry and we both started to eat. Now this was a lot hotter than the curries we've been eating recently, a real step up. It is unlikely I'll be ordering another one soon but it was still OK. Anyhow all of a sudden Lorraine starts choking saying the food is far hotter than she expected. It was a little strange as it’s usually me that struggles when the food gets too hot. We carry on eating and I casually tip the green chillies out of my curry back into the foil tub just as Lorraine starts choking again. It's only when I mention that there is no way I'm eating the chillies Lorraine realises her mistake saying she thought they were green beans and as she is not fond of them she was trying to eat them all up first. I have to say I tried to be as sympathetic as I could whilst trying not to laugh. No wonder she was dealing far worse with the curry than I. It brought back memories of when Mat told Roxy that you should eat chillies and when Liz ate a chilli thinking it was ochra. Poor Lorraine!
She is currently in the bath laughing about her stupidity (her words not mine). Personally I think she is a bit high after all the chilli.
